So I just lost my kid for the first time... The little one. The quiet one who likes to close doors behind himself in dark rooms and not make a peep. I knew he couldn''t have gone far, we were all inside the house and he can''t open the outside doors yet.
I''m watching my little cousin Chloe for the weekend so there are 3 little munchkins in the house. It''s amazing how much more that one extra little mobile body adds to your normal life. Not in a bad way, or a work that much harder way, but it''s so much more to supervise and keep track of 3 monkeys instead of 2!
So I''m trying to get a little laundry folded before nap time and realize that it''s pretty quiet....
Uh, oh. We have a problem. I looked in every room of the house twice and didn''t spot him. He''s not making any noise or responding to my calls, and it''s eerily quiet. Rationally, I know that nothing dangerous could have happened to in the last 5 minutes but I still was starting to have Mommy panic...... Where could he be???
So we make the rounds in the house again, this time freaking out...
Aiden''s room?...... nope
I even stopped to ask the dogs if they had seen him.
"No, no, we haven''t seen him in here Mom." they tell me......
As I''m closing the door I hear someone else chime in,
"googly gobbeldy, ticka ticka, tocka." (translation - "No Mom, I''m definitely not in here)
Upon closer examination I find that there are 2 occupants in Ella''s crate, instead of the usual 1! I had just let the dogs in from the yard a few minutes earlier and he must have snuck into the crate when I stepped outside. All 50 lbs of Ella-love was curled up in the corner so she could fit in there without squishing him, and he was happily playing a splashing game in her water pail. Sigh.....
